Primaries: races in New York, Illinois and Colorado

Democratic governors. New York’s Kathy Hochul, Illinois’ JB Pritzker and Colorado’s Jared Polis secured their party’s nominations to retain their seats in November, as voters in all three states went to the polls on Tuesday to nominate their candidates for office to elect the governor. Hochul, who is seeking a first full term as governor, will face Republican Lee Zeldin, while Pritzker, who is running for a second term, will face Trump-backed Darren Bailey. In Colorado in November, Joseph O’Dea won the Republican bid to challenge Polis.
