Saint Mary’s has one more hurdle to overcome before its final game of the season at home against top-ranked Gonzaga. That barrier was San Diego Toreros 14-13, who sat in sixth place of the West Coast Conference. Maybe it was a slightly broken low barrier rather than a barrier as the Gaels beat San Diego 86-57 three games back, but looking ahead games are a real thing and this one is definition of the situation.
Toreros are approaching the finish line of a very difficult run at home and I doubt that they can sustain this game.
Here are the odds for this WCC battle, with the help of WynnBET Sportsbook.
Total: 127.5 (Above -110/Under -110)
If you haven’t started the tunes early, I’m struggling to find reasons to fade the Gaels here. As a bottom team fan, I’d bet on San Diego. But they didn’t get the right price as I feared.
First of all, they were 29 points annihilated by Gales this year, and it’s not as if that game happened a few months ago, but exactly two weeks ago. In a similar situation, Toreros was 14.5 points behind and completely blew it away. I don’t think the game being played in San Diego will make much of a difference.
Another big problem here is that San Diego is being blown away by teams that aren’t so stellar. Only in their last game, Toreros lost to 32 points when 2 points behind Portland. They were also defeated and suffered heavy losses against Cal Lutheran 29 and UNLV 23 earlier in the year.
Give me the Gaels for 12 here on the road.
Pick: Saint Mary’s -12
