Predictions and odds between Alcorn State vs. Texas A&M (Braves will cover a large number)

The Texas A&M Aggies had to settle for a No. 1 seed in NIT after being beaten by Tennessee in the SEC Championship game. The Aggies needed to win the conference as a team of bubbles, and their failure to do so brought them here, as the biggest fish in the kids’ pool. The Alcorn State Braves were in a similar situation after being defeated by Texas Southern in the SWAC finals.

The Braves are in the NIT based on their regular season performance even though it’s barely above 0.500. While each team has to worry about missing out on the NCAA Tournament, a seat at the kids table will have to suffice. This was the fourth meeting between the two teams and the Aggies had a perfect 3-0 scoreline.

Despite their unfortunate loss in the SEC Title Game, the Aggies are one of the hotter teams in the nation entering the tournament. They have won seven of the last eight games both direct and against odds. This is largely due to their stellar defense holding their opponents at an average of 67.3 points per game. Both their scoring ability and defensive ability rank among the top 125 teams in the nation. I love balanced and comprehensive teams like this. Truth be told, the Braves are also very well proportioned but their scale is much smaller. The Braves ranked 269th in offense and 210th in defense.

There’s no denying that the Aggies are a much better team. Just refer to the 18.5 point spread in this game if you’re not convinced. But this is a lot of points for getting a team that might just be the rocks after missing out on the SEC title. I don’t see them losing this game but they’re probably fed up with the previous loss and probably won’t get mad here.
