Prediction Georgia vs. Michigan, Odds, Odds and Over/Under for College Football Playoff Semifinals

In one of the more unbelievable wins of the conference championship week, number 2 Michigan Wolverines eventually beat the Ohio State Buckeyes. They then followed up with a decisive win in the Big Ten Championship over Iowa the following week, sending them through the ranks and claiming a spot in the College Soccer Playoffs.

Now, they prepare to face the number 3 Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve. Odds open with Bulldogs being the favorite 7 points, but that line is quickly bet up to 8 in the current position.

For those looking for a crazy attacking shootout, you’ll likely enjoy the other semi-final. The total score of 43.5 is now the lowest ever for a college knockout game. Before giving up 41 points to Alabama, Georgia was the #1 ranked defense in the nation that only allowed 6.9 PPG. But, Nick Saban proved that even they can be beaten and Michigan is good enough to make a game out of this.

The following is the odds for Orange Bowl courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

After several long seasons at Michigan, coach Jim Harbaugh finally beat Ohio State, won the Big Ten championship, and sent his team into the knockout stages. Otherwise, Harbaugh was very close to being shown the door. Now, the whole team has to rally behind him again to try and make it difficult for one of the best teams in the nation.

While I was surprised that Georgia lost so miserably to Alabama, I don’t think it was purely a fluke. Georgia took their #1 spot last weekend but they haven’t really been tested the way Alabama did. The Bulldogs played only three ranked teams all year before Bama in, Clemson, Kentucky and Auburn.

I still think Georgia has one of the best defenses in the nation and the Wolverines will have to play the best offensive game they’ve played all season; maybe a few seasons ago. Michigan also only played against a handful of ranked teams, but passed the final test by beating their “last boss” in Ohio State. Georgia, meanwhile, stumbled in a match they were expected to win.

It sucks for the Wolverines that they’re stuck with the 2nd seed and can’t face the Bearcats in the semi-finals and let ‘Bama and Georgia fight again. That would be a happier watch for both sides and a better match for Michigan to win logically. I think Georgia escaped that loss in search of redemption and werewolves in the end no longer on a quest towards the CFP title. That would be the end, to bet for the Wolverines to cover, but the ending won’t win the title.
