People in the area are advised to take shelter and avoid driving on roads.
“You are in danger now. Now take shelter in a solid building. Do not leave or enter this area by vehicle or on foot. It’s too late to leave as the roads are not safe,” the warning said.
“Conditions are dangerous and firefighters are now unable to stop the fire from spreading. Shelter before the fire comes, as heat can kill you long before the flames reach you.”
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a fire weather warning for the Eastern Eyre Peninsula and Mount Lofty Ranges fire weather districts on Thursday as temperatures reached the high 30s.
Temperatures in Port Lincoln were expected to reach 37°C and wind speeds of up to 30 kilometers per hour.
