Police officers were injured when a car rolled over while chasing a gunman in Katandra West

Two police officers were injured when their car lost control and rolled over during an attempted arrest in central Victoria.

Officers were at a property near Shepparton to make an arrest when a man allegedly armed with a firearm approached them shortly after midday on Monday.

He is accused of fleeing the scene in Katandra West and a short time later the officers’ car lost control and rolled on a country road.

The couple suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for observation.

According to police, the man traveled to a second home in the nearby town of Youanmite and changed cars.

No one has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
