Police investigate party after Queensland teenager found dead

Police are investigating a party after an 18-year-old man was found dead and seriously injured in Townsville, northeast Queensland.

Authorities were called to Rupertswood Park, Alice River, on Saturday morning after a member of the public found the body of Kane Moore.

Early investigations indicate that Moore died on Friday evening or early Saturday morning.

“There were a number of injuries to the deceased which led us to believe that this was not just a sudden death resulting from a natural occurrence,” Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Lawson said Monday.

Lawson said the party took place near where the teen’s body was found and police began questioning attendees.

“There were varying numbers at the party throughout the night, but police are actively identifying those who were at the party and are looking for versions from them of what happened,” he said.

Police are urging the public with dashcam views of Hervey Range Road and the Rupertswood Park area to come forward.
