Police confirm human remains discovered in southwest Washington belong to Corey O’Connell

Analysis of human remains discovered along a Washington freeway has confirmed it is Corey O’Connell, who has been missing for two years.

O’Connell, 26, was last seen on June 24, 2021 walking along Brockman Hwy south of Nannup in southwest Washington.

Human remains were discovered just off the road on May 15 and police have now confirmed that they belong to the missing man.

“Following DNA analysis, these remains were identified as those of Corey O’Connell,” WA Police said.

His family was notified and officers returned to the site on Thursday.

“An extended area is currently being searched to locate additional remains,” authorities said.

O’Connell had walked away from his car after running out of fuel.
