Polestar has announced it will open its first Australian flagship, Space, at Melbourne’s Chadstone Shopping Center this summer.
The company already has spaces in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Hobart, but these are seen as in-between solutions and are currently functioning more as customer handover points.
Compared to the current locations, this upcoming flagship space in Chadstone will be more permanent and more aligned with the brand’s minimalist philosophy.

Designed to complement the company’s “digital-first” sales model, Polestar Space’s retail concept offers potential customers an environment to experience and test drive the cars.
Spaces are staffed not by salespeople but by specialists, allowing customers to explore at their own pace and ask for assistance when needed, without the pressure of a sale.
“We are delighted to announce the location of our first Polestar Space. Chadstone Shopping Center is a destination and Australia’s largest shopping district,” said Samantha Johnson, Head of Polestar Australia.
“Our space concept has been carefully designed to reflect the brand’s minimalist branding philosophy while providing a welcoming environment for customers to experience the all-electric Polestar 2 at their leisure.”
The flagship Melbourne Space will be located in the basement of Chadstone Shopping Centre. The opening hours will be as follows:
- Monday to Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m
- Thursday to Saturday: 9am – 9pm
- Sunday: 10am-7pm
Australia is considered an important launch market for Polestar. It currently offers the Polestar 2 high-riding liftback locally, although the wide range of future products it plans to unveil are all on the way Down Under.
The company also has bold expansion plans. The company aims to launch a new model every year until 2024 and expand to 30 markets by 2030. It also intends to increase its sales from 29,000 a year to 290,000 a year by 2025.
On October 13, Polestar will unveil the acclaimed Polestar 3 SUV, which will be built on a version of the new electric architecture set to underpin the forthcoming Volvo EX90 SUV.
The smaller crossover Polestar 4 is slated for launch in 2023, and the four-door GT Polestar 5 will launch in 2024 – bring the Polestar Precept concept car to life.
Polestar also recently announced plans to build a production version of its O2 concept called Polestar 6, which will be launched in 2026.
Polestar is a Sweden-based joint venture company run by Volvo and its Chinese parent company Geely Holding that was listed on NASDAQ following a SPAC IPO earlier this year.
