Nintendo just showed its second trailer to the Pokemon scarlet and Violet, and it looks like a great game! The starters are cute, the environments look way better than in legends, and the professors are hot. wait what
Yes, you read that correctly. Just look at the new Pokémon Professors Sada and Turo. Both are unduly attractive to your adult mentors in a Pokémon game. Maybe that makes me a traditionalist, but I’m used to Pokémon professors who look like they could be clumsy grandparents (oak, rowan, magnolia), fathers (elm, birch, lavender), or aunts and uncles (kukui, juniper, Sycamore). Sada and Turo look like people your girlfriend told you not to worry about.
Her designs continue the “lab coats over her loungewear” fashion sensibility that has always plagued the series’ pros, but with an added twist: Sada is wearing something straight out of the Stone Age, and Turo could have stepped out of a spaceship from the year 3000. How A gaming journalist pointed this out on Twitter, “pasada” is Spanish for “past” and “futuro” means “future”. There’s clearly some sort of time travel theme between these two professors. And it’s fitting that their names come from Spanish, given that the latest games are taking place in what appears to be a new region inspired by Spain and Portugal.
Pokémon fan artists and content creators have been busy since these professors were officially revealed. The fandom cannot be contained. Don’t worry: kotaku shows you only the most workable versions of Pokémon Professor fanart.
Some fans thought that Professor Turo bore striking resemblances to the fabled GigaChad, mainly because of the facial hair. And they can’t stop making memes about it.
Normally, I would say that Pokémon fans are keen on everything. But this time it’s a bit justified.
