The good folks at Pokémon Center have outdone themselves once again.
The Japanese store currently sells a life-size Spheal plush. Weighing 16.4 pounds and standing over 3 feet tall, the chonker is not for the faint of heart. This big boy costs 49,500 yen (about $357).
Spheal is a ball seal. That’s it; that’s the whole concept. It’s an Ice-type Pokémon, and to that end, the product description promises that it’s cool to the touch “because it uses cool contact tissue.” Here are some of the things you can do with your life-size Spheal, according to the images on the Pokémon Center website:
The size of the plush really makes you think about how big Spheal has always been. When the creature was introduced Pokemon Ruby and sapphire, my childhood brain pictured it as basketball size. Seen in the wild Pokémon Legends: Arceus shook that understanding a bit since it was significantly larger in the open world. Still, this plush is huge – big enough to fill an entire bed.
Spheal joins a growing line of illustrious life-size Pokémon plushies. The Pokémon Center sells the giant Mareep, which was popular enough to start a meme trend, and a life-size Lucario, which looks disturbingly lifelike in promotional photos for another cute stuffed animal.
This Spheal plush is only available in the Japanese Pokémon Center store, which doesn’t ship items overseas, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it’ll be available in the US at some point.
