PlanetSide 2 tests server improvements, faction-specific abilities, and gameplay tweaks on PTS


There is a new PTS build for Planet side 2 and regular players of the big FPS will probably want to take note of it, especially since one of its main features is related to the game’s servers and interaction with NPCs. That might not sound like much at first, but “NPC” here means things like terminals, vehicles, generators, mission objectives, and most importantly, CTF lines.
The new server performance update will now push such NPCs to more specifically check who is interacting with them, whereas previously they would query the interaction requirements for every character in range, even those who don’t intend to use them or those who are are in the -sight line, which in turn affected server performance. In short, the developers would Really as players try to push the new, shinier buttons.
More powerful terminals aren’t the only parts of the PTS build, as it also introduces faction-specific abilities for each class in the game, some of which are detailed in the PTS patch notes. The build also tests several balance tweaks for infantry units, nose guns on certain aircraft, and a long list of MAX unit adjustments like the end of MAX unit revives.
