PJ O’Rourke, irreverent political commentator who had a 60-minute stint in 1996, dies at 74


From February to June 1996, O’Rourke has been mined with Molly Ivins and Stanley Crouch to make a hipper version of point wrestling “Point / Counterpoint” that went on between columnists Shana Alexander and James Kirkpatrick. But after eight outings, then-60 minutes Executive producer Don Hewitt has pulled the plug on the segment. O’Rourke also plays the pilot of Real blood.
