Piolo Pascual, Lovi Poe Leader of Filipino Version of “Flower of Evil”

Stars Piolo Pascual and Lovi Poe direct the cast of the Filipino adaptation of Korean series Flower of Evil. It is broadcast throughout East Asia and parts of the Middle East.

The romantic thriller series is about a detective who suspects her husband is a serial killer.

The original show was produced by CJ ENM’s Studio Dragon and aired on tvN in 2020. Reimagined in 16 hour-long episodes by Dreamscape Entertainment with ABS-CBN as co-producer and multi-territory streaming platform Viu, it is presented as ‘Original.’

The Filipino adaptation will premiere internationally for the first time Thursday through Viu in 16 different territories in Asia, the Middle East and South Africa. It will then be broadcast on ABS-CBN’s linear channels, A2Z channel, Kapamilya channel and Jeepney TV, starting Saturday in prime time.

An included synopsis describes the narrative as “a crime drama series that tells the story of unconditional love. It’s about a married couple who overcome the challenges their secrets bring. Jacob, a doting husband and father of a family, hides his dark past as a suspected murderer from his wife Iris, the homicide detective. But when Iris takes the lead on a case involving Jacob’s past, they will stop at nothing to uncover the truth and protect the life they’ve built – even if it means behind each other’s backs to sweep.”

“ABS-CBN Entertainment and Viu’s partnership to produce the Filipino adaptation is an opportunity for us to bring excellent Filipino talent and storytelling to a larger global audience,” said Cory V. Vidanes, COO of ABS Broadcast.

Pascual previously named by diversity and the International Film Festival & Awards Macau for Talent to Watch, is best known for the television series Don’t Give Up on Us and the 2015 film Silong. Poe has garnered numerous awards for roles in films, including “Latay”, “Mayohan” and “Yesterday Today Tomorrow”.

“We look forward to seeing the new, localized version of the drama, which brings the story and characters closer to Filipino audiences while retaining the fun and value of the original script,” said Sebastian Kim, Director for International Content Sales at CJ ENM.
