Phil Davis joins wrestling clinic to win against Julius Anglikas

Phil Davis joins a wrestling clinic in his win over Julius Anglikas.

Former Bellator light heavyweight champion Phil Davis knew Julius Anglikas wouldn’t shy away from grappling with him, but Davis showed there were classes in the discipline.

After a comfortable course in the first few minutes of the fight, Davis scored a big goal against Anglickas at the end of Round 1 and was followed by a series of big elbow strikes. On that point, Anglikas seemed comfortable in defending Davis’ takedowns and grappling with him.

Davis’ wrestling will prove to be too much for Anglickas in Round 2, as he maneuvers Anglickas on the ground and thwarts any attempt to return with his foot. He scored a big goal after a strong ride and used the weight of Anglikas against him.

Davis claimed victory in the final five minutes of the match when he lifted Anglickas off the ground and smashed him into the center of the cage. He can knock out Anglikas on the ground and control speed throughout.

After three rounds of textbook wrestling, Davis secured a unanimous decision to move forward in the light heavyweight title.

Phil Davis may have another shot at the Bellator light heavyweight belt

Davis enters the fight to keep his momentum positive after winning the split Yoel Romero in Bellator 266. Despite the decision to split, Davis dominated Romero with his ability to wrestle and strike at the right time.

Davis is looking to get another shot at the Bellator light heavyweight belt against the winner of the Bellator World Light Heavyweight Grand Prix, which ends with Vadim Nemkov and Corey Anderson later this year. He lost two games to Nemkov at Bellator 209 and Bellator 257.

Like Davis, Anglickas managed to return to the light heavyweight title after losing to Nemkov at Bellator 268. He took his place. Anthony Johnsonwho withdrew from the war just weeks before the event.

With a win over Anglikas, Davis could face winners Nemkov/Anderson for the next 205-pound title shot.
