PFL donates 10,000 to Dynamite Youth Center, a cause close to our hearts

The Professional Fighter’s League donates 10,000 to the Dynamite Youth Center, a cause close to the heart of a PFL employee.

The Professional Fighter’s League held a very special event Wednesday when it brought together two PFL fighters and two PFL personalities to speak at the Dynamite Youth Center in Brooklyn, NY. The center is dear to Loren Mack, senior vice president of corporate communications at PFL, who was at the center during its formative years as a teenager.

“I swore to myself not to get emotional,” Mack said while holding back tears during the event.

According to PFL, “The center works to help dependent adolescents and young adults create positive change in their lives through a comprehensive care system by presenting an evidence-based program model that thrives through engagement, motivation and compassion in a participatory transformation that is safe , family environment.”

Anthony Pettis and Renan Ferreira, who both fought during the PFL playoffs, spoke about adversities in their past that helped grow them up, including the death of Pettis’ father when he was just 16. Also, Lillian Garcia and Randy Couture spoke to the center’s patrons to a full house.

“Everyone mentions my six world titles,” Couture said. “But those titles came about because of losses.”

Garcia spoke about the struggles of being a woman in the male-dominated industry and Ferreira spoke about leaving his small town in Brazil and depending on his family for support.

The PFL presented a $10,000 donation to the director, and the fighters and personalities answered questions from the crowd and posed for photos with the youth, who were also presented with gift bags.

The most notable attendee was Pettis, who took time off to attend the social event after losing his weight.
