Pete Buttigieg and Troy Nehls at odds over Biden and the 25th Amendment

“We are now seeing the mainstream media question President Biden’s state of mind, and with good reason,” Nehls said. “Unfortunately, he shakes hands with ghosts and imaginary people and falls off his bike,” the congressman added, referring to the president’s fall while on a morning bike ride near his Delaware vacation home. As lawmakers spoke, people stood with him, holding pictures of Biden next to the White House Easter Bunny.
“Have you spoken to cabinet members about implementing the 25th Amendment to President Biden?” Nehls then asked.
“First of all, I’m glad to have a president who can ride a bike,” Buttigieg replied. “And I will look beyond the offensive nature of this question and make it clear to you that the President of the United States…” he added before Nehls interrupted him. Buttigieg managed to mutter “Of course not” into the mic as Nehls repeated the question before finishing his sentence with the president’s words, “…is such an energetic colleague or boss that I have ever had the pleasure of working with.”
Critics, including former President Donald Trump and supportive Republicans, have used Biden’s falls, stumbles, stutters and diction to raise doubts about the fitness of the nation’s oldest president, sometimes attempting to portray Biden’s verbal blunders as a sign of his mental deterioration . But he’s long been known for verbal slips, even slips, and he grew up with a stutter.
A never-executed section of the 25th Amendment allows the vice president and senior administration officials to remove the president if he or she is “unable to discharge the duties of office.” Senior Trump officials debated invoking the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, the Washington Post reported.
Nehls assisted Capitol Police barricading the entrance to the US Capitol when insurgents attempted to storm the building on January 6 last year, when Congress voted to confirm Biden’s election. He called the uprising “a disgrace”. But he also voted to overturn Biden’s victory.
