Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry is out week after week with a lower body injury

Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry is out week in week out with a lower body injury, coach Mike Sullivan said Saturday.

Jarry did not travel to Boston for Saturday’s game against the Bruins while he was being assessed. Casey DeSmith will start at the net against the Bruins.

Jarry’s 56 starts this season ranked sixth in the NHL among goaltenders. He has a 34-18-6 record, a 2.42 goals-against-average and a .919 saving ratio. DeSmith has started 19 games this season and has an 8-4-5 record with a 2.94 GAA and a .906 save ratio.

Pittsburgh (43-22-11) is third in the Metropolitan Division with six games remaining in the regular season. The Penguins secured a berth in the playoffs for the 16th straight season on Thursday.
