Peloton says it doesn’t allow ‘billions’ heart attack scenes with its bike

Peloton isn’t too pleased with its recent description of a range of high-end cables. On Sunday night “Billions,” Mike Wagner aka Wags (David Costabile) suffered a mild heart attack while riding his Peloton bike. Sound familiar? The same thing – minus the “gentle” part – happened to Mr. Big (Chris Noth) in the “Sex and the City” sequel series “And Just Like That…”

Unlike Big, Wags don’t die. The Showtime character, however, acknowledged the tragedy of HBO Max.

“I don’t hang out like Mr. Big,” Wags said on “Billions” last night.

The university pass!

A person with knowledge of the production told TheWrap that the “Billions” scene was written and filmed in the spring of 2021. The producers later added in the line mentioning Mr. Big we said.

Anyway, Peloton isn’t cool with this particular use.

“We get TV shows that we want to include @onepeloton to get people talking, but to be clear, we have *not* consented to the use of our trademarks or IP on @SHO_Billions or provide any equipment,” Peloton tweeted on Monday. “As the program has shown, cardiovascular exercise helps people lead happy and long lives.”

With the help of Ryan Reynolds, the original Big scene was adapted into a Peloton commercial, which seemed to please all parties. That is, until Noth was accused of sexually assaulting multiple women. The the ad has been pulled and Noth were edited in the “And Just Like That…” finale. (Noth has refuse allegations).

Sunday is the season 6 premiere for “Billions.” Big died at the end of the “And Just Like That…” series premiere in December.

It’s been a tough few months for Peloton. In fact, for shareholders, it’s been a pretty tough year. See the fitness equipment stock trendline below.

Starring Giamatti, Corey Stoll, and Maggie Siff, “Billions” was created by and hosted by showrunners Brian Koppelman and David Levien. Season 6 is also produced by Beth Schacter.

The series was also created by Andrew Ross Sorkin.

On Season 6, “Season 5’s dust is clear to reveal an evolved world,” the showtime synopsis says. “With Ax (Damian Lewis) gone and Michael Prince (Stoll) taking his place, Chuck (Giamatti) must develop a new strategy that is sharper and more sophisticated than before. All players, from Wags (David Costabile) to Wendy (Siff), from Taylor (Asia Kate Dillon) to Sacker (Condola Rashad), and of course Senior (Jeffrey DeMunn), must sharpen their weapons and search New alliances in order to survive. Daniel Breaker, who plays Scooter, Prince’s brilliant and locked-in chief of staff (Stoll), has been cast on the series regular. The ground is always changing and the stakes are absolute. New king, new war, new rules. ”
