Peloton is framed by Peppa Pig’s mother for murder

It’s been a rough couple of weeks, PR wise, for the Peloton pandemic fitness sensation, and on Monday’s episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” things got even worse when cycling. corporate gymnastics framed for the death of another fictional victim: Peppa Pigs’ father.

Gag was inspired by last season’s premiere of Showtime’s “Billions,” which featured an amazing coincidence. a character has a heart attack while using a Peloton bike. This, for those watching, comes just weeks after the “Sex and the City” sequel “And Just Like That.” kill the big man through a Peloton-induced heart attack.

It’s not really clear why “the fictional character dies on Peloton” has become such a TV cliché – it has to be said that there are no real-life Peloton-related deaths – but Obviously yes, and that brings us back to Colbert. The cold opening, as usual, began with a series of news reports explaining the situation. Then there’s the real joke, a slightly edited and slightly remastered clip from the British children’s TV show “Peppa Pig”.

In the clip, Peppa’s dad received a new Peloton. “But it’s not something on TV that gives people a heart attack,” Peppa asked.

“What could have happened,” his father asked. “I was actually made of something that cardiologists advise you not to eat. This exercise bike gets me off the hook in no time.”

At this point, we know that Peppa’s mom seems to think she’s stuck in a loveless marriage. Then father started riding and spoiled, leading to a heart attack.

But it turns out that wasn’t really Peloton’s fault. Looks like dad cheated on mom. “I poisoned his coffee,” Mom said.

“Peloton: Not a bike this time,” the clip ends with. See the gag below:
