Pela Pixel 6 case is soft because it’s eco-friendly

With the launch of the Pixel 6 series, Google has killed all hope that it will continue to produce cases with interesting fabrics. Outside some poor quality entertainment, it’s a concept that hasn’t been scaled up yet. But since its launch in October, there’s been one case that’s managed to ease the heartache of losing Google fabric cases – Pela’s soft and comfortable Pixel 6 cases. .

How can a rubber case replace the interesting fabric covers that Google has made from recycled plastic for generations of Pixel phones?

Listen to me.

Pela’s case designs are made entirely from sustainable materials plant-based materials, not traditional plastic. Boxes are compostable, which means they will decompose under the right conditions a lot of faster than the traditional plastic cases that most people use.

A by-product of this important and laudable mission is Pela’s case for the Pixel 6 series and other devices that’s incredibly soft, almost eerie.

The Case “Stormy Blue” has a soft and inviting feel to it, while “Green Summit” version has a similar feel, but with a ridge design etched into the back that adds some nice texture to the case. To me, this case feels most similar to fabric cover for Pixel 4 and Pixel 5. It’s soft, comfortable, and has some real texture. Unlike the official Google case, it’s bland and boring (though made from some recycled materials, that’s great).

Pela’s cases have served my Pixel 6 Pro well, with no issues with dropping the device – a rare occurrence when the case is turned on, thanks to its sturdy nature. . But there are some areas Pela could improve. Pela, notably, also offers a liquid screen protector. I haven’t had a chance to install it yet and with Suitable tempered glass is now availableI’m less inclined, but the $60 product carries a $200 warranty on screen repairs, if your screen cracks while using a liquid screen protector (you must also own a screen protector). own a Pela case to qualify).

The first thing I would like to see is more design options. For iPhones and even previous Pixels, Pela offers more design options beyond static colors, but none of those options are available for the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.

Also, I’d like to see a design that’s a bit stiffer and, in turn, hides the power button. The split mark for the power button makes it easy to identify, but not obtrusive. A stiffer design will also create more space around the bottom of the screen. With thin bezels and gesture navigation being the norm in this day and age, the lip at the bottom of a smartphone case can be a little uncomfortable at times, and the lack of rough edges around the USB-C port makes it easy to hold. phone more comfortable. Hold.

To make a long story short: I still want Google to restore fabric cases, but in the meantime, Pela is my preferred replacement for it. both soft and chewy, unlike most of the other cases I’ve tried.

Buy Pela Case ($50+)

As a final note, there are fabric cases for the Pixel 6 . series on Amazon. The ones I’ve tried, at least, aren’t great. The fabric starts to fray almost immediately, the inside of the polycarbonate picks up a lot of dirt and is barely able to protect the phone. They are cheap to be sure, but a poor substitute for the real thing.

Bring them back, Google.
