There is never real peace without justice.

HBO Max’s “Peacemaker” finale features a very special appearance from Alliance justice – in spite of after the climactic war between the Peacemaker (John Cena) and the Alien Butterfly goes down.

“We don’t have the budget to get them on time. Can never do that. They must be late, “showrunner James Gunn joke with Diversity.

Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller reprising their roles of Aquaman and The Flash in “Justice League” respectively for a comedic scene that was partially filmed in Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.”

“I think before filming the show, we talked to Jason [Momoa] about it. We said, ‘Listen, [Peacemaker] say you have sex with fish all the time. ‘ And we were a bit afraid he would get upset, but he just laughed. He was great,” Gunn said. “So he was pretty much present from the start. And then Ezra I only got to know through some mutual friends who like my movies very much. And so I asked if he would come in and shoot this scene, and he kindly agreed to do it. In fact, Marvel shot [Ezra] for us, while we were filming ‘Guardians Vol. 3. ‘”

Gunn continued, “I mean, Marvel owes it to DC, because the ‘Peacemaker’ crew shot my screen test for me. [‘Peacemaker’ co-star] Chukwudi [Iwuji] for ‘Guardians Vol. 3. ‘ And then we have Ezra with ‘Guardians Vol. 3’ crew. ”

So where has the rest of the Justice League been?

Well, the darkness in the finale implies that Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Superman (Henry Cavill) are also present on the battlefield, but Batman (Ben Affleck) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) are significantly absent. (Gadot and Cavill’s respective roles aided the shot.)

“There are reasons for [their absence], but I’m really not sure if I can say what those reasons are,” Gunn said of Batman and Cyborg apparently having left the Justice League. “It could be related to things in the future.”

Gunn concludes, “I think the full weight of it and, you know, what this means for DCU and all of that turned into giant conversations all the way up to the high levels. Warner’s best. And in recognition of their merit, they let me get away with it.”

“Peacemaker” was recently renewed for a second season.
