Peabody, Sudbury tractor riders prepare for Saturday’s Nor’easter – CBS Boston

PEABODY (CBS) – The plow is lined up and ready to take on what is shaping up to be Big Nor’easter Saturday.
“We were long overdue. It’s been about four years since we experienced blizzard-like conditions,” said Peabody Public Service Director Bob Labossiere. “At this point, we just want to get over it.”

It will be a 36-hour shift for public works crews in Peabody, where more than a foot of snow is expected.
“The biggest challenges for us were the amount of time it took to not only clear the road but also do all the cleanup after the storm,” said Labossiere.
Peabody will only have enough manpower to pre-treat and plow the road, but not in Sudbury.
Sudbury Director of Public Works Dan Nason said: “I have more than anyone to drive it right now.
This weekend, he’ll be working with half the normal crew.

“If there were trees that fell with the supplemental wind, we had to pull those teammates out, head for the tree problem and then go back to the plowed path,” Nason told WBZ-TV. speak.
If the wind is strong, it can knock down power lines.
“It looks like there will be a power outage just because of the high winds, they are predicting 50-60 mph winds,” Labossiere said.
While most dread cleaning, there is a silver lining.
“It’s a good thing to be on Saturday,” Nason said. “So hopefully people can stay off the roads.”

DPW officers will begin handling the road Friday night. They are asking the public to be patient, because if conditions are bad, it could take longer to clear the snow.
