Pat Narduzzi starts Backyard Brawl bad blood by calling WVU who starts QB

Pitt Football head coach Pat Narduzzi aggressively names JT Daniels as West Virginia starting quarterback ahead of Thursday night’s backyard brawl.

Pat Narduzzi is coming off his best season yet as manager of the Pitt football team, so he’s been absolutely in his pocket all summer.

From the ordeal of his former employer at Michigan State to the appointment of JT Daniels as quarterback for the West Virginia Mountaineers after the return of the Backyard Brawl, Narduzzi has grown into a full-blown Nard Dawg, okay. While it’s fantastic to see the Backyard Brawl back in our lives, who could have predicted that Pitt’s head coach would have the audacity to do Neal Brown’s job for him?

“JT Daniels will be the (WVU) starting quarterback,” Narduzzi told Trib Total Media’s Jerry DiPaola ahead of the return of Backyard Brawl this week. “If you haven’t made that announcement, I will make it for you.”

As fate would have it, Daniels and former USC teammate Kedon Slovis are said to be the starters.

Pitt Football: Pat Narduzzi Names JT Daniels WVU QB Starting For Backyard Brawl

While Narduzzi has earned the right to take a little break this year, he has found that Jordan Addison, Kenny Pickett and Mark Whipple are no longer part of the Pitt program. The reigning Biletnikoff winner now plays for USC. Last year’s ACC Player of the Year now plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pitt’s former offensive coordinator actually left to be a coach for Nebraska…

As far as Brown is concerned, his spot is probably hotter than anyone in the Big 12. The former Troy head coach needs to achieve bowl eligibility this season and outperform an eighth-place team in the conference to realistically get another year at work in Morgantown. For that to happen, he must go all-in on Daniels as a starter, just as Georgia got in last season.

Ultimately, it will cost hell if Pitt loses the Backyard Brawl at home to West Virginia on Thursday. The Panthers are still the better team to the Mountaineers entering this season. However, there are no guarantees that Pittsburgh will return to Charlotte in the ACC Coastal. Miami is a real threat and don’t sleep on the fact that a team like Virginia are absolute wagons offensively.

Narduzzi named WVU’s starting quarterback for them, but his Pitt defense has to hold Daniels back.
