Pastor Juanita Bynum faces scrutiny after revealing she is charging $1,499 for a month-long prayer course

Pastor Juanita Bynum made headlines earlier this week after news circulated online about her prayer class, The Prayer Institute.

The reason for the excitement was that many were horrified to discover the course came with a hefty price tag.

The Prayer Institute, scheduled to begin Oct. 6, is offering a four-week in-person course at an undisclosed location in Atlanta, a tote bag, folder, prayer shawl, anointing oil, and certificate of completion, to name a few items, for $1,499. That’s a discount off the original price of $1999.99.

While promoting the course on September 14, Bynum strongly encouraged her followers to sign up for the course as “seating” is limited. In the Instagram post, the 63-year-old wrote: “Register now! Seating is limited!” Almost a week later, Pastor Bynum offered a virtual registration option.

When fans saw Pastor Bynum’s upload, many immediately questioned the “You are Great” singer’s motives behind the expensive course. One social media user went so far as to tell the pastor to remove the post altogether.

“Praying 1,499? this is a joke What could it teach me about prayer that the Bible doesn’t already have? I will wait…..3.2.1. Walk..”

“Please take that down. It’s really embarrassing and one of the reasons people have lost faith in the church…BECAUSE OF GREED.”

“You should be ashamed of yourself. It’s people like you who don’t go to church… false prophets.”

“The fact that she wears Gucci says a lot… it’s wrong to do business with God. You don’t need classes to learn to pray. Attend a Bible study near you for FREE. She really tears them all down. She should be ashamed.”

“Calling people to learn to pray? That is crude and blasphemous.”

Among the previous comments, others jokingly suggested the main reason why they would pay that specific amount for a prayer class. One wrote, “If I pay that much, Jesus must personally pull up so I can touch the helm of His robe…”

Another said, “So does the $1,499 prayer class and $133 prayer packs include a tour of heaven, brunch with Jesus, and some selfies with Peter? If not, I don’t want it.”

After the review, Pastor Bynum took to her Facebook page to disclose why she was charging $1499 for her one-month course.

While addressing the many years she has dedicated to the ministry, Pastor Bynum said, “I will not insult myself to even speak of the price. It’s an insult to me. Having been in the ministry for over 50 years and I know at least 35+ years, I have done nothing but be a prayer pioneer and help people understand prayer and let them watch me. “

She added: “So that they know that there are different dimensions and different levels of prayer. And how do I know that there are different levels and different dimensions? Well it’s easy. It’s called results. When you get the results, you know that the person absolutely knows what they are doing. And I want to do that.” Pastor Juanita Bynum faces scrutiny after revealing she is charging $1,499 for a month-long prayer course
