Paramount+ Scripted Chief David Nevins Talks #MeToo, Documentary About Louis CK

The Chief Content Officer of Paramount+ and Paramount TV Scripted Originals boss has announced the streamer is working on a documentary about Louis CK, the disgraced comedian who retired from public life after being caught in the #MeToo movement was involved.

According to Nevins, it will involve the New York Times reporters who broke the story that Louis CK had been accused of sexual misconduct by five women. “Louis CK is a slightly different situation [to Harvey Weinstein] and a great, great comedian who’s back in his own way,” Nevins said Thursday morning during a talk at the Edinburgh TV Festival in Scotland.

“I don’t think the social change that #MetToo has brought about is resolved at all,” Nevins said. “There’s a bit of a backlash to #MeToo about who has to go and who can come back.”

Nevins also spoke about the next season of Billions, which he says will feature comments on Russian oligarchs given Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine. “[This is] a show dealing with flows of wealth and corruption of power. How do you not deal with the Russian billionaires, the oligarchs?”

“[The show has] Brilliant things to say about the Russian oligarchs in London, because that seems like a big story, you know, like a big part of this show.

Nevins also shared a clip from the upcoming American Gigolo series. When asked about Paul Schrader’s lukewarm reaction to news of the reboot, Nevins replied that Schrader didn’t know what the plans for the series were and that it wasn’t just a remake of the 1980 film.
