Overwatch just bugged Mercy into the ground

surveillance 2 released a ton of news and updates today, but all everyone’s really talking about is a serious Mercy nerf. While some of the support characters, including Lucio, Zenyatta, and Brigitte, have received buffs, Mercy main cast are sure to be crying throughout as they read the contents of these patch notes, which kotaku received by email.

Increased the cooldown of Mercy’s Guardian Angel (an ability that causes her to target an ally and quickly fly her staff towards them) from 1.5 seconds to 2.5 seconds. Her movement has also been toned down when using Guardian Angel, likely making her more difficult for lower skill players to learn and master. Mercy’s healing per second has also been reduced, but is increased for allies below half health. Since all healers now regenerate health passively (which previously only Mercy could), she gains a new passive ability called Sympathetic Recovery, where she heals herself for 25% of the healing done to friendly players with her staff.
While I can admit that it’s a nightmare to play against a really good Sojourn or Pharah to be pocketed by a great Mercy, that’s bad news for Mercy’s leading man. That the other healers have received some sort of buff, whether it’s an increase in Zenyatta’s ammo or Brigitte’s repair pack, which instantly heals 25 health in addition to the heal-over-time feature, makes Mercy’s nerfs even harder to swallow.

Luckily, Ramattra is finally getting a nerf after taking the brakes off me for the past few weeks: his ultimate, a painful AoE attack that lasts forever as long as you’re in it, now has a 20-second cap. Reinhardt has received a slight nerf, which is one of many changes Blizzard is making to target instant or near-instant kills – his Earshatter ultimate has his direct hit damage reduced from 250 to 170, but his Fire Strike damage gets a small boost.

Other heroes like Junkrat and Widowmaker have received slight nerfs reflecting Blizzard’s attempts to avoid quick kills: Junkrat’s Concussion Mine damage has dropped to hopefully avoid one-shot kills in combination with his grenade, and Widowmaker has reduced health, so it’s squishy.
And when not in the role queue, all tank heroes have reduced health to prevent open queue competitive games and other open games from having a 5 stack of seemingly indestructible tanks. While many of these changes make sense, the Mercy nerf is scratching my head. Oh well, At least you can meet her in the official date over watch dating sim.
