Overwatch 2 Ranking: The best heroes in Overwatch 2

Playing like Overwatch 2 will have a huge impact on your performance and your team’s success in the game. While hard counters aren’t as common as they were in the first game, picking the strongest heroes at this point will likely give you the best chance of winning. With that in mind, here is the current ranking of every Overwatch 2 hero as Season 2 begins.

Dive Comps are very strong at the moment, but if you don’t like that kind of playstyle, there’s some scope to branch out for the strongest heroes. Roadhog has become a deadly force with the inclusion of Kiriko, and Sojourn’s Railgun is incredibly powerful if you can get headshots with it. Both characters can completely take over a game. D.Va, Genji, Tracer, and Winston are all strong picks that also demand the opponent’s attention whenever they are on the field.

The next round of selection are heroes with high survivability or good ranged damage potential. In general, tanks in Overwatch 2 are just really good, so most of the class is already represented here. The only oddity here is Junkrat, which has massive damage potential and is probably the best tank buster available in the game at launch. Kiriko’s Kitsune Rush has proven to be one of the best ultimates in the game, but her kunai attacks require you to shoot very accurately to make good use of them. That being said, she has better healing potential than people give her credit for.

B class

The B-Tier roster of heroes is filled with characters that can have the potential to take over a game, but it depends on who’s using them. These heroes generally require a lot of game savvy and will take a bit for players to understand how to get the most out of their abilities and when to use their ultimates. An untrained player who takes them can completely waste their potential. However, in the right hands, all of these characters can make a powerful positive impact on their team.

C class

The C floor is full of damage heroes who are in a strange place right now. For many players, having Cassidy lose his stun is a huge achievement for him, and it might take a little fiddling before he works his way back up this list. That being said, if you aim well, he can be a force. Mei, Reaper, and Symmetra are all characters that have their defenders they love, but in general, they can be replaced with other characters fairly easily to get more use out of them. The only tank here, Ramattra, had a lot of people thinking it was way better than it is at the start of Season 2. Perhaps with more time with the character, he will rise on this list.

D class

D tier is for the heroes who feel in a tight spot when Overwatch 2 launches. Bastion has one of the worst ultimates in the game, but it can do serious damage in certain situations. Brigitte, who is losing her stun, has just turned her into a support who can endure fights more easily than the others in her class, but that will only be if her teammates help her. It kind of exists right now. Doomfist’s leap into the tank role has lost much of what made him a fun character, so like Brigitte, he just survives when his teammates are around without a way to work with them. Torbjorn’s tower is now much easier to destroy without so many shields in the way, and he shares the spot with Bastion as two of the easiest characters to defeat in the game.
