Overwatch 2 DPS Character Tier List – The heroes with the best damage per second

Some of the beauties of Overwatch 2 is the ability to switch between heroes on the fly to find the best team composition that will bring out the best in your team while thwarting opponents’ plans. The DPS class can completely change the fate of a game by carrying a team and decimating enemies. Here’s our full Overwatch 2 damage hero rankings.

DPS hero ranking in Overwatch 2

Note: The ranking below is our current take on the usefulness of damage characters as of the second beta for Overwatch 2. The game is continually updated, and we’ll update this list as needed as changes occur.

Genji, Tracer

With Overwatch 2’s Crowd Control abilities almost entirely removed, Genji and Tracer can wreak havoc on any team that struggles to hit small moving targets. Both can do a lot of damage quickly and make dive comps viable for the foreseeable future. It’s pretty easy to get a lot of value from either as there aren’t many hard counter options at this point.

Cassidy, Junkrat, Sojourn, Soldier 76, Widowmaker

The A tier is mostly filled with some of our favorite longer range heroes. Cassidy lost his Flashbang stun, but he can still do significant damage if in the right hands. Ditto for Sojourn, Soldier 76 and Widowmaker. Hit your shots with them and you can quickly decimate a team. As for Junkrat, his chaotic playstyle can melt away the fighting tank when he jumps into fights, so definitely consider him if the enemy team has a tank controlling the battlefield.

Ashe, Hanzo, Mei

The next tier is filled with heroes that are also long-range, but not quite up to A tier standards. Ashe and Mei don’t deal enough damage compared to Cassidy and Soldier 76, and Hanzo can be hit-or-miss. That being said, teams should still get some value out of them in most situations considering they’re more or less the same from game one.

Bastion, Echo, Pharah, Reaper, Sombra, Symmetra

This group are your take-it-or-leave-it heroes. All of them are decent in certain situations but also have their downsides as they are either easy to counter or hard to score. The reworks of Sombra and Bastion in particular have pushed them down significantly for us, but maybe our opinion can be changed as we play more time with their new kits.

Torbjörn is at the bottom of our list, and we think he’s probably the one most in need of another overhaul going forward. The main reason for Torbjorn, its turret is very easy to destroy with less shields in game and more tanks fighting. But that has been the case with him for a long time. Any time temporal range characters are viable, Torbjorn will fight. His Ultimate and Overcharge abilities both have their uses, but finding a great candidate for this Swedish engineer might be harder than any other time.
