Oscar Isaac has “reckless” back to the work of character research. Enter: “Moon Knight.”
After starring in popular indie films and TV series — as well as big-budget franchises like “X-Men: Apocalypse” and the “Star Wars” trilogy — Isaac was “great” hope” returns to character research.
“Often on these big movies you can feel like you’re setting up an airplane on the runway,” says Isaac Empire. “The idea of going back to the ‘craft’, character-research films… I was desperate for that feeling.”
And then there’s the new partnership with Disney+’s Marvel,”Moonlight Knight. ” Not quite “Inside Llewyn Davis,” but Isaac still finds indie for the limited series.
“It seems to be ‘manual,’” explains Isaac. “This is the first legal Marvel character study since ‘Iron Man.’ I thought, ‘Maybe I can take this one. Maybe this is a chance to do something really cool on a big stage. ‘”
Isaac continued, “What I love most about this is that it’s the discovery of a mind that doesn’t know itself, a human being who doesn’t know his own brain. I found that really touching: how far the mind is capable of surviving. But the amount of work is huge: the technical challenge of impersonating these different characters, the physicality, the way I present my body… It requires a lot of energy. ”
The six-episode limited series, starring Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy, premieres March 30 on Disney+.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige provocative that the series pushes the “boundary” of the MCU.
“There are moments when Moonlight Knight was crying about another character, and it was loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction was, ‘We’re going to take this back, aren’t we?’ Is not. We are not retreating,” Feige said. “There is a tonal shift. This is a different thing. This is ‘Moon Knight.’ “
Isaac previously revealed about the filming of “Moon Knight” in Variety’s “Acting on Actor” series.
“There was a lot of room to try on because there was no pressure that we had to make sure we made hundreds of millions of dollars by the opening weekend,” he said. “So we can make it very perspective. We can make very strange decisions. For now, at least – and I don’t imagine it going to be the other way around – it feels like that’s where more risk is involved as it could be, financially. “
