World No. 3 Ons Jabeur has been in brilliant form in recent months and after winning the titles in Madrid and Berlin and finishing second in Rome and Charleston she is in the hunt for her first major Grand Slam title . She beat Mirjam Bjorklund in the first round and easily passed Katarzyna Kawa in the second round as well. In her third round match against Diane Parry, she didn’t let the match slip for even a minute and finished the match in straight sets, resulting in an easy win. She then faced Elise Martens and, as expected, beat her fairly comfortably but had to go through a tie-breaker in the first set. She then forced a comeback win over Marie Bouzková in the quarterfinals to secure her spot in the semifinals with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

At the other end, Tatjana Maria faced Australia’s Astra Sharma and, after falling behind in the first set, had to work hard to get past her in a three-set match. She then faced Sorana Cirstea in the second round and lost the second set despite an easy first set. After everything was up for grabs in the third set, against all odds, Tatjana beat the 26th Romanian in the third set and won the match. She then faced Sakkari in the third round and played beautifully to win the match and secure her place in the fourth round. She then faced Yelena Ostapenko in the round of 16 and everyone expected this to be the end of her fairytale run at Wimbledon, but she shocked the entire tennis world by coming from behind to win the match and advance to the quarterfinals. She continued her run and dominance into the quarterfinals, beating Jule Niemeier despite losing the first set and securing her spot in the semifinals with a convincing 6-4 2-6 5-7 win.
