Olympic champion Linoy Ashram recently announced her retirement from the sport of rhythmic gymnastics on Monday, April 4th. Israel is retiring at the age of 22, having started her career in 2015.

the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games was a pivotal moment for Linoy as she took home the gold medal and became the Individual All-Around Champion. In doing so, she became the first woman from Israel to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games, receiving widespread praise and also speaking out about her future.

“Today, with Olympic champions on my business card, I know that this trip was worth it,” She said. “An athlete needs to know when to stop. I have fulfilled my dream. I will continue, but on the other side.” added Linoy, according to Olympics.com.

What’s next for Linoy Ashram as she announces her retirement?

“If I could halve the medal, I would give (coach) half to Ayelet Sussman because part of it (the win) is hers.” said Ashram about her Olympic title. Linoy added that she will join Sussman’s coaching team in the future.

Linoy is the holder of 11 World Championships medals and four European Games medals, including two gold medals. She became the first Israeli to be crowned European Individual All-Around Champion in 2020. However, Ashram’s shining moment came in 2021 when she defeated the ROC favorites Dina Averina and Arina Averina to get the individual all-around title.
