Old School RuneScape previews a new runecraft minigame, releases League III patch

Those who pursue the line of runecrafting skills in Old School RuneScape can appreciate that leveling up skills is a rather arduous endeavor. With Introducing Guardians of the Rift mini minigamehowever, Jagex hopes to deliver “an exciting, engaging new minigame that serves as a whole new way to train runecraft.”

In the minigame, runecraft players will be tasked with entering a location known as the Temple of the Eye and protecting a Great Patronus as it attempts to close the dark elf’s gates. This is achieved by loading the Guardian with the imbued essence while also creating Rifts and Shield Guards to protect the Great Guardian from enemy attacks; The player will not be attacked by monsters and fighting does not happen in the temple. Successfully completing the minigame grants elemental and catalytic energy points that can be used to tap the abyss for a variety of random rewards.

Entire minigames, like most things OSRS-relevant, a little more in-depth, so players will want to read full details for more.

Meanwhile, today’s update will address issues with League III.

“It’s great to see so many of you stuck in our Third League, the Broken Relic! We’re seeing some incredibly powerful Fragment and Set Effect combinations, and we’re glad you’ve thoroughly enjoyed the additional strategy involved this time around. We’ve also seen feedback suggesting that some of the restrictions applied are too restrictive and that the best Fragment and Set Effects take too long to obtain. We wanted to alleviate these concerns somewhat by rebalancing the Known cost required to unlock new skills and bosses. Those who have unlocked the tool will be refunded the difference. By opening any Tournament interface, this will be applied to the amount shown in the chat box. Happy spending! We also wanted to rebalance some of the quest requirements that were practically unattainable by the time Shattered Relics League was out. ”
