Like many teams across the NBA, Dallas Mavericks is scrambling to contract the player as the COVID-19 virus takes its toll. Between the injury and the absence of COVID, the Mavs rotation now looks extremely fragile.
That being said, they went out and brought the lottery picker, Marquese Chriss. Via Chris Haynes / Tim McMahon:

As McMahon noted, this is to make up for the losses of Reggie Bullock and Josh Green, who are currently participating in league health and safety protocols. Chriss, eighth overall pick in the 2016 Draft by Sacramento Kings, which brings dimension and power to the Mavs’ journey.
The last time he played for Golden Empire Warriors, but he only appeared in two games in 2020/21 after breaking his leg on Gift Day. He was finally traded to Spurs in March but was dropped just days later. Chriss finished in Portland after that, but he failed to impress last season.
The Mavs need any help they can get right now with all these health issues. Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis were beaten up and shortlisted for Tuesday’s contest. Chriss showed real promise in 2019/20 with Dubs, scoring 9.3 points and 6.2 rebounds in 59 games played. Let’s hope he can bring the same impact to Dallas.
