Oklahoma recruiting classes disband, 5-star and 4-star shut down after Lincoln Riley leaves

Brandon Inniss 5-star wide receiver has reopened hiring after Lincoln Riley left Oklahoma for USC.

Fallout from Lincoln Riley’s swift departure from Oklahoma to USC continues, as receiver widens 5 stars in 2023 Brandon Inniss announced on Twitter that he will be discontinuing the Sooners show.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Inniss is the No. 1 player in the country, the No. 2 from Florida and the No. 9 prospect in the 2023 draft. Inniss originally committed to returning to Oklahoma in August. He visited Norman informally at the end of October. With 36 official offers, the Fort Lauderdale native has more time to figure out which college he will attend.

Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, and LSU are some of the schools that have offered full scholarship recipients to date.

Since Inniss is just a junior at American Heritage, he doesn’t need to make a decision about where to commit right now. It serves him to wait out the silly season before figuring out which school is best for him.

Inniss was later joined by four stars running again Treyaun Webb announced that he was also disintegrating from Oklahoma.

Webb is the No. 5 in the country, the No. 20 from Florida and the No. 96 in the country in 2023. He has 44 official offers, many of which are programs for which Inniss has scholarships.

Finally, whenever a top-level coach leaves the program, hiring suffers. The sooner the Sooners find Riley’s long-term replacement, the quicker they can salvage their 2022 recruiting class and do the good work needed to win the road to recruitment in 2023. Unfortunately, the damage was done and it took a few years before that Oklahoma was back to what it was under Riley.

As far as USC is concerned, receiving a scholarship from Trojan is now even more valuable.

Update: Another 5-star player, 2023 Malachi Nelson, also retired from the OU.

Nelson is the No. 2 quarterback and player overall in the 2023 division and, according to reports, Riley has spoken to the California native about USC.
