The recent shootings at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas have plunged the entire world into a state of tragedy. A gunman opened fire, killing 19 children and two adults before injuring others. This act has been condemned by figures from all walks of life, America has seen many shootings in the past year and the fact that schools are the primary target makes it all the more disturbing.

For many, the recent shootings were not just another headline in the newspapers, for members of the Dallas Cowboys this shooting made them reconsider their decisions, some of whom had children and took immediate action to ensure they were in Safety are while some players like Dak Prescott stated that he has no children and is afraid of having one due to such cases. Odell Beckham Jr. shares the same concerns and why shouldn’t he, the LA Rams wideout was recently blessed with the privilege of becoming a father so we can only anticipate the impact such an incident had on him.

It is human nature to reflect on life in general as soon as you come across a tragic event that happened to your well-wishers or an incident of a horrific nature. The recent shootings have left us all worried about our loved ones and made us enjoy and appreciate each day that we wake up safe and sound more than ever.

Odell Beckham Jr. has been busy to say about these shootings, he’s very passionate about the subject and believes it’s high time for a change, how long will this continue, how long will this be a cycle that repeats itself? Today we condone the act, do the bare minimum, and maybe in a month another shootout will happen that will bring us back into the same cycle.

“Reading the details of what happened makes me sick, how can we change things? HOW MANY VOICES NEED TO BE HEARD TO CHANGE SHIT!” said Beckham. One of the more disturbing incidents that occurred during the shooting was that police refused to enter the premises for nearly 48 minutes after knowing there was an active gunman. One of the students who was stuck on the grounds of Robb Elementary School smeared blood from her dead friend and lay down to pretend to be dead so she wouldn’t be shot at.

With such details, one wonders why, and the fact that there is no resolution in sight makes it worse, OBJ added: “Give extra love to those we love today, life is just so damn short! Prayers for the families who are suffering at this time. Truly heartbreaking.”

It’s unfortunate that things turned out the way they did. At FirstSportz, we hope the situation improves and stand in solidarity with the families of the victims of the shooting.
