In a race where you’re fighting for a podium after a brilliant recovery from a P20 start, you just can’t afford to make mistakes like an unnecessarily long pit stop, but that’s exactly what happened Charles Leclerc, Ferrari’s best hope of winning the Drivers’ World Championship this year. While Charles Leclerc skillfully climbed up from the back of the grid, his team strategy failed as he was unable to get close to a podium finish at all due to a late pit stop by his team staff.
With a double Ferrari exit last week due to reliability issues in Azerbaijan and a slow pit stop that cost Charles Leclerc some valuable points, it is natural for the Monegasque to lose the potential World Championship win race after race. After missing out on a podium today, Charles Leclerc was interviewed to give his thoughts on the race and by the sound of it he seemed to be losing hope in Ferrari’s strategies.

Charles Leclerc comments on what went wrong in the pit stop that cost him a podium in Canada
In the days leading up to the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, it was announced that Charles Leclerc will suffer a grid penalty that will send him straight to the back of the grid as Ferrari are set to make some crucial changes to his car after the scare at the end of his run Azerbaijan Grand Prix last week. During Saturday’s qualifying session, Charles Leclerc easily made it into Q2, after which he stopped setting a lap time as he was scheduled to start from P20.
On Sunday, Charles Leclerc made up three grid positions himself in the first round of the Canadian Grand Prix and decided to overcome other cars in order to finally aim for a podium finish. Seeing his breathtaking speed, Leclerc’s fans contemplated a brilliant finish to the Monegasque GP round in Canada, but were rather disappointed when Charles Leclerc pitted and succumbed to a slow pit stop.
