The mother of Brisbane Broncos props master Payne Haas will be behind bars for a month after assaulting security guards at The Star Gold Coast casino.
Uiatu “Joan” Taufua, 46, pleaded guilty in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday to hitting and spitting on casino security staff in May.
The mother of nine children was sentenced to nine months in prison, which was suspended on October 1 after serving a month of pre-trial detention.
It’s not Taufua’s first run-in with the law, after she was given a suspended sentence in May 2019 for a violent outburst on the road in which she verbally and physically assaulted a delivery driver.

On that occasion, Taufau attacked the driver, who suffered serious facial injuries, including a broken cheekbone, a hole in his lip and a crooked nose.
