Novak Djokovic beat up Diego Schwartzman the 2020 French Open Fourth-round semifinalist in straight sets. He beat Schwartzman 6-1, 6-3, 6-3 and meets the winner of Raphael NadAl vs Felix Auger Aliassime in the quarterfinals. Djokovic had started the year with a nasty incident and it took some time for him to get back to his dominant best. He entered Paris with the Italian Open 2022 Title and a lot of self-confidence.
Diego Schwartzman is a clay court specialist and a very dangerous player when he’s in shape. Djokovic easily dismantled Schwartzman to win the match very quickly. He reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros for the 13th time in a row. It’s an ominous sign for the entire field as the world No. 1 proves his authority and presents himself as by far the biggest favorite to defend his title at the 2022 French Open.

Novak Djokovic had to work his way through the second set to come back from 1-3 to win the set 6-3. But things ran smoothly for the world No. 1 after that and he would be really motivated for one of the biggest challenges, an awaited encounter with 13-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal.
Novak appreciated his opponent Diego Schwartzman in the on-court interview. He said:
“I have a lot of respect for Diego Schwartzman, he’s a great person on and off the pitch. I’m delighted, but I want to congratulate him on his tournament and wish him every success for the rest of the season.”
Speaking about the terms of the game, Djokovic said: “There wasn’t a lot of bounce on the pitch today so I think I found the right moments every time.”
On the subject of the defending champion and his approach to the French Open 2022, he said: “Yes! I’m on the right track, I agree. The tournament isn’t over yet, I have a lot of work to do, but I’m very happy to be where I am today.”
Novak Djokovic will be ready for the quarter-final clash as he gets closer to defending his title at the Stade Roland Garros.
