Royal family from Rajasthan have suffered their first Indian Premier League (IPL) defeat in 2022 thanks to a stellar performance from Royal Challengers Bangalore duo Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed. As the Faf du Plessis-led team chased 170 down with five deliveries remaining, the two dashers poked fun at RR’s famous bowling lineup. Both RR and RCB have two wins in three games this season.
Early in the game, RCB won the draw and chose to bowl at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. David Willey justified the decision with an outstanding first over and sacked Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second over. Nevertheless, a form strong Jos Buttler teamed up Devdutt Padikkal to stabilize the ship with a 70 run stance. While Padikkal was aiming for 37 quick runs, Buttler broke the 50-run mark for the second time.
The dasher, on the other hand, was cautious throughout the inning, reflecting the pitching conditions. Meanwhile, skipper Sanju Samson was sacked for a run-a-ball eight after failing to get his racquet to talk this time. Buttler then found a significant partner in Shimron Hetmyer, who has recently emerged as a formidable finisher. With RR finishing 169/3 in the allotted 20 overs, the duo played some delightful shots in the final overs.

After collapsing at bat, RCB made an incredible comeback with the help of Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed
While Buttler went undefeated at 70, Hetmyer accumulated 42 points from 31 deliveries. In response, RCB got off to a fast start, with skipper Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat combining 55 runs for the first wicket. However, the game was turned on its head when RCB lost four wickets in seven runs. Yuzvendra Chahal took two of those wickets and put the RCB in a difficult situation.
However, the evergreen Dinesh Karthik teamed up with Shahbaz Ahmed and the duo put RR on the backfoot with their outstanding stroke play. The two dashers were equally brilliant as the running speed required was quickly reduced. While Shahbaz was sacked for a 26-ball 45 in the 18th over, there was no twist in the story. Dinesh Karthik went unbeaten on 44 balls from 23 as RCB won by four wickets in 19.1 overs.
