North Carolina A&T beat Radford in overtime in the first round of the Big South Conference Tournament and now has their hands full with Longwood, the No. 1 on deck.
Longwood won the Big South regular season but they dropped one game and that was against North Carolina A&T back on the road on February 12, 70-62.
However, there is no doubt that the Lancers are set for success given their banner season in the first session of the Quarterfinals. But will they be able to cover a sizeable spread? Here are the odds of WynnBET Sportsbook:
I can’t imagine we seeing any delay from the Aggies after they went into overtime with Radford in the first round as they had a day off between games. What is worrying, however, is that they lost a double-digit lead over a vastly inferior team in the second half and are now up against the best offense in the Big South.
The Lancers are the best 3-point shooting team in league play and are good at the little things too, ranking second in both turnover rate and offensive rebound rate, while ranking third in free throw rate . The Aggies have struggled offensively all season but generate better second chances than any other team in the conference. However, Longwood is third in defensive rebound rate.
Ultimately, I see North Carolina A&T struggling to keep up with Longwood. In the game the Aggies won, they passed their opponent by 10 and were fantastic on the inside, 53% to Longwood’s 35%. I see a neutral pitch tonight and the Lancers’ ability to wash that off the free throw line (74.9% as a team) will give them the cover.
