Noah Syndergaard shoots at Mets with Phillies in return for New York

Noah Syndergaard was traded to the Phillies on deadline and Thor is now returning to New York to face the Mets and had some strong words.

Despite being injured for many of them, Noah Syndergaard spent six seasons with the New York Mets before the club decided not to bring him back before the 2022 season, resulting in him signing with Los Angeles. However, LA traded Thor at deadline this year and as fate would have it, he ended up at a NL East rival of his former club, the Philadelphia Phillies.

On Friday, the Phillies traveled to Citi Field to start a three-game series against the Mets, and while Syndergaard wasn’t scheduled to start the series, he didn’t hesitate to deliver a massive shot at his former team.

Ahead of the game, Syndergaard was asked about his return to Citi Field, saying: “I’m still absorbing everything. I’m happy to play for a team that has a chance to play for a World Series.”

While you’ve got to love Thor’s confidence as he dropped the gavel on a Mets organization that’s been sidelined from the World Series since 1986 — the longest drought for any NL East team, it should be noted — it’s a brave one Hiring for a player on a team ranked third in the division led by New York.

At the same time, Syndergaard is more aware than most that “Mets-ing” is a real thing, and fans are still concerned that something bad could still happen to this team if they make the playoffs.

Regardless, Mets fans certainly won’t forget this anytime soon. And if Noah Syndergaard was hoping for a warm welcome back to Citi Field, his comments almost certainly blew the chance of that happening quickly out the window. Noah Syndergaard shoots at Mets with Phillies in return for New York
