Alan Dershowitz appeared on Newsmax Thursday to give his response to the Special Counsel’s petition John Durham.
Durham was appointed in 2019 by the then Attorney General Bill Barr to investigate the origin of the probe into the potential relationship between Donald Trump and Russia. That investigation ended with the release of the Mueller Report.
The proposal has technical jargon about the access a Clinton campaign lawyer must access to non-public, but also not entirely private, internet data from internet servers at Trump Tower and the White House. in 2016 and 2017. That lawyer is Michael Sussmannwho was indicted for making a false statement to the FBI.
Right-wing media went wild with the story, claiming that Clinton hacked and spied on Trump. However, these accounts unfounded based on available information. Furthermore, Durham himself has yet to make any accusations related to the hack.
Newsmax presenter Sean Spicer lay out the facts of the case before asking Dershowitz, “What’s the real deal?”
“Well, as usual, it’s split in the middle,” he replied. “It’s a big deal and it’s likely to lead to the belief that the people in the Clinton campaign were definitely engaged in dirty politics. Whether they cross the line to commit a crime – let’s not rush to judge. “
Dershowitz observed that the report had not yet been released and said the charges the investigation had recorded so far were “process crimes” rather than “baseline indictments.” He predicted the investigation would reveal “very, very dirty politics” conducted by some of the people on the Clinton campaign.
He said he was a friend of Clinton’s, who was “disappointed.” However, he added, “I haven’t seen anything that points directly to Hillary Clinton.”
