BOSTON (CBS) – There will be no criminal charges against the death of a Boston University professor, who fell from a broken staircase at an MBTA station last September.
David Jones was on the run when he fell through a rusty step at JFK station. Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said Jones had been trying to get up the stairs, having been blocked and unattended for more than a year.
Hayden said: “Any death is a tragedy and his family, loved ones, students and colleagues continue to mourn his untimely passing. “However, based on a thorough and careful review of the evidence, we have determined that the criminal charges are not related to Dr. Jones’ death.”
Jones was an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Law, Policy, and Management at the Boston University School of Public Health.
The stairs have been removed after Jones’ death.
