The horror genre has seen a resurgence in the past decade, and Universal has been in the midst of that with hits like remakes of their monster classic. Ivisible man. Now, the studio best known for its mid-20th-century gothic monster movies wants to strike again while the heat heats up with their new Dracula movie. Renfield Directed by Chris McKay. Based on the popular spin-off of the same name by The Count, tons of information about the project has slowly been revealed over the past few months. It all led up to this moment like today to come notice that the movie, is playing the lead role Nicholas Hoult like a crazy title character and Nicolas Cage as Dracula, which has just entered production.
Universal Pictures made the announcement on their various social media accounts with the simple caption, “And it begins,” and accompanied by a Dracula emoji for good measure. The post also comes with an image of the official film showing the logo featuring Renfield title in the same block font as Universal’s original vampire movie 1931.
Yellow and red are also identical. However, that’s not the first look we’ve received at the film’s production as the cinematographer of the new monster movie, Mitchell Amundsencame his Instagram to express one of the sets. No captions or context were given, but they appear to be filming on a basketball court and the brick walls around the court create this quaint vibe. However, this movie is supposed to be set in modern times and it’s possible that Dracula was playfully playing basketball.
With Cage behind the fangs you never knew existed, but in all seriousness, everyone involved in the production seemed excited. Hoult also shared the same image that Universal did and McKay, who is best known for Lego Batman Movie and Tomorrow’s battleshared the excitement of the cast and crew about his Instagram story. He even changed his Instagram profile picture to Renfield film plate.
The movie is being pegged as an original new movie Bean Sticks‘S vampire that represents Hoult’s Redfield, who is most famously portrayed by Dwight Frye in the 1931 classic, as someone sick of being manipulated by Cage’s Dark Prince. All this leads to him falling in love with a fiery traffic cop due to Awkwafina, giving the minions a new purpose in life. This movie that gathers many stars also has Adrian Martinez, Ben Schwartzand added recently Shohreh Aghdashloo and the script is written by Zombie‘S Robert Kirkman and Rick and Morty‘S Ryan Ridley.
In a world where Michael Myers and Ghostface are once again crashing into people on the big screen, it’s great that, after multiple failed attempts, we might as well see Universal Monsters return in a big way. With RenfieldUniversal also has a werewolves reworked in development with Ivisible man‘S Leigh Whannell directing and Ryan Gosling in the lead role.
