After Alabama Football dropped Agiye Hall from the roster, Nick Saban’s comments make it even clearer that the four-star WR is unlikely to return.
Will Agiye Hall play for Alabama Football in 2022 or beyond?
Head coach Nick Saban spoke on the status of the former five-star wide receiver on Wednesday and it doesn’t sound good.
“He’s going to be suspended from the team for violating some of the team rules, whether academic or whatever. It doesn’t matter,” Saban told On3’s Clint Lamb. “Everyone has a responsibility and obligation to respect the principles and values and to do what they have to do. They’re all there to help them be more successful, so it’s always very helpful to respect and do that.”
Nick Saban on Agiye Hall’s return: “He’s had this opportunity before.”
The most revealing quote came as another reporter pressed what Hall would need to do to win back his spot.
“Well, he’s had that opportunity before,” Saban said. “So I don’t know what his plans are for the future.”
It doesn’t sound like Saban expects Hall to get back in his favor at all.
Hall was a four-star champion in the class of 2021 and was ranked 45th on the 247Sports composite. He was rated the fifth-best wide receiver in the class.
The Tide lost leading receivers Jameson Williams and John Metchie III to the NFL draft, so they could use a passcatcher of Hall’s size and skill next season. However, they’re not completely helpless without the would-be sophomore, who caught four passes for 72 yards last year.
Alabama has landed Georgia’s Jermaine Burton in the transfer portal and has recruited its share of highly acclaimed receiver prospects in recent years. They landed three top-100 receivers in the Class of 2022, including No. 35 Aaron Anderson, No. 56 Shazz Preston and No. 78 Kobe Prentice.
