NHL Weekend Picks: Roll with the Wild, Stars and Panthers will be a low score match

Hockey fans on a happy Friday are certainly delighted that the sport is back in full swing, and we’re seeing fewer and fewer postponements after the tournament’s brief hiatus.

On Thursday, The league has announced the list of four divisions for the year 2022 NHL The All-Star Game, is scheduled to take place on February 5 in Las Vegas. As part of the NHL All-Star Fan Vote, Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews, Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon, Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin, and Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid will act as captain for each of the four divisions.

As always happens with the All-Star Game, there are usually some notable points and this season roster is no exception. The biggest thing for me has to be Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand. We are talking about a player who ranks seventh in the league in points. Marchand is currently hitting pace in a 114-point season, which would miss the peak of his career. Simply put, there’s no reason why Marchand shouldn’t bring his talent to Las Vegas next month given the way he’s played this season.

Anyway, there are only three games on the NHL board on Friday, but I have two that could be profitable for us!

🏒 Duck with. Wild, 8 p.m. | TV: NHL.tv

Latest rate:

Minnesota Wild -180

Pick: Wild (-160): Since dropping Winter Classic Blues, Wild is back on track dramatically. Minnesota has recorded strong wins against the Bruins and the Capitals in the last two games. Goalie Cam Talbot has been left out of the lineup since suffering a lower back injury in the Winter Classic. With Talbot on the shelf, backup netminder Kaapo Kahkonen thrived in his absence and conceded just two goals in every game he started. Offensively, Wild averages 3.6 goals per game, the third best in the NHL. Minnesota will have no problem playing this game.

Meanwhile, the Ducks have lost 5 of the last 7 matches and only scored 14 goals in that period. Also, start scoring John Gibson, who was named in the All-Star Game on Thursday, will be spending the night and Anthony Stolarz will start drawing. Stolarz has played solidly with a scoring performance against an average of 2.29 goals during the season, but he has conceded six goals in his last two games. I hope Wild can make life difficult for him this time around.

Main trend: The Wild are 35-16 in their last 51 home games

🏒 Stars vs. Panthers, 7 pm | TV: NHL Network

Latest rate:

Under 6.5

Pick: Under 6.5 goals (-115): Panthers are one of the most dominant offenses in all of the NHL. However, I have no problem with the bottom in this match. Sure, the Panthers average 3.9 goals/game and have players up and down their roster. However, the Stars are 19th with just 2.9 goals per competition and are on a five-goal performance against Kraken earlier this week. I just don’t see the Stars being able to keep up with that pace even with veteran strikers Joe Pavelski playing out of his mind right now.

The Panthers have been on fire having won six of their last seven games. They should have no problem winning this game, but the payline returns are a bit high at -210. I hope Florida can win, but the Stars keeper Jake Oettinger was extremely impressive at the end of the year. Oettinger has averaged 2.01 goals in his last two games and I wouldn’t be surprised if he keeps the Panthers to two or three goals in this one. The final score of 3-1 wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Main trend: Under is 4-0 in the last four lane matches of the Stars
