New York continues to find ways to win

The New York Rangers are on track for their third game in a row tonight at Crypto.com Arena to face the Los Angeles Kings. Both teams won their most recent game against Rangers as the Ducks 4-1 and the Kings took out the Red Wings 4-0.
Go on Monday night. Rangers finished second in the Metropolitan Division with an overall record of 23-9-4 and top lane 13-6-2. Their goalkeeper of the night was announced as Igor Shesterkin. The Russia-born goalkeeper uses 15-4-2 with a pair of tackles and averages 2.09 goals over the game. He’s a big reason Rangers stay at number one in the rankings.
Some good news for Rangers coming into this game is that Artemi Panarin is back from COVID-19 protocols. While Rangers have led 3-1-0 in those four games without Panarin, he is their top scorer and would be a big addition to the roster.

While the Rangers don’t have the stats to support their strong winning record, they continue to find ways to win. As mentioned above, they only lost one game while the leading scorer was eliminated and they overcame their opponents 13-7 in those matches. Rangers ranked 23rd in expected goals and around 500 in goal difference at full power. They are amazing in terms of power play but their 5v5 stats are cause for concern.
While the more I look at the stats, the more I like kings, but I can’t help but think that the answer to this game doesn’t lie in basic stats. The Ranges have continued to challenge odds, math, and expectations this season. They lost their best scorer and conceded 3-1 and turned off the lights. The Kings had a clear goal advantage, but their defense fired so many shots that that advantage ultimately didn’t mean much.
Pick: New York Rangers -110 to win
