Publisher Nacon and its Milan-based development studio are developing a new Terminator video game — the first open-world survival game in the sci-fi franchise, according to the publisher. On Thursday, Nacon Studio Milan released a short teaser for the project, showing a model T-800 Terminator endoskeleton hunting down human prey.
The untitled Terminator game is set after the events of Judgment Day, the Skynet-instigated nuclear holocaust that destroys much of humanity, and before the creation of John Connor’s resistance to the machines. In other words, it will be set before the events of another game published by Nacon, 2019’s first-person shooter Terminator: Resistancewhere players battle Skynet’s mechanized forces in the War Against the Machines.
Nacon is withholding further details other than to confirm his new game is coming to PC and unspecified consoles “in the distant future”. But a survival game set in the Terminator franchise’s post-Doomsday era certainly holds promise, given how gruff the Resistance has been portrayed in various Terminator movies, comics, and video games, not to mention how menacing Terminators are are.
The developer of Terminator: ResistanceTeyon, is currently working on a new RoboCop based first person shooter game called RoboCop RoboCop: Villain City.
