New Ghostbusters shooter for PC, PlayStation and Xbox

A new ghostbusters game has been announced. Called Ghostbusters: Ghosts Unleashedis an asynchronous 4v1 multiplayer shooter that pits four Ghostbusters against one player who controls the ghosts.

The official description of the game reads:

As the Ghostbuster, team up with other Ghostbusters to hunt and capture ghosts in museums, prisons, hotels and more, capturing the ghosts before they can fully invade the area. Or hide, sneak, surprise, scare and of course Ghostbusters and civilians until everything is completely spooky. Use tricks, subterfuge and ectoplasm to gain the upper hand and drive off the Ghostbusters.

It looks… pretty basic, especially since this is its debut trailer, but then it’s made by Illfonic, who specialize in mid-tier releases like Friday the 13th and predator hunting groundsso it will probably be a cheaper game too.

I have some concerns! for starters, ghostbusters is a film that was very much a product of its time (1984) and place (New York City), and pretty much any attempt to continue the franchise in other places and/or times It’s been a disappointment ever since, whether it’s movies or a series of bad video games (the wonderful animated series being the only exception).

Next: Illfonics track record. hunting area, Friday the 13th and dead alliance everything sucked. Then there’s the fact that asynchronous multiplayer games always sound better on paper than for people who just want to play as one of the sides (although that at least supports solo and offline play). then There’s the fact that it’s launching exclusively on the Epic Store on PC, which will surely be its biggest platform (it’s also coming to PlayStations and both Xbox consoles).

This game doesn’t take it easy! However, I am forever an optimist and forever someone foolish enough to pass on ghostbusters Things a chance so I’ll still be interested in taking a look when it comes out in “Q4”.
